Reading Skills
In Grade 7, students continue to develop reading comprehension skills with texts of increasing length and complexity. They practice skimming to identify main ideas, scanning for specific details, and begin recognizing how ideas are connected within a text. Exposure to a variety of genres—such as blogs, narratives, and explanatory articles—helps students build effective strategies for the Reading section of the Checkpoint exam.
Writing Skills
Students are guided to write longer paragraphs and full texts with clear structure and tone appropriate to the purpose of communication. They practice writing in different formats such as personal emails, descriptions, and opinion essays, while improving vocabulary use, grammatical accuracy, and linking devices. Skills in brainstorming, outlining, and proofreading are also emphasized to prepare students for the Writing section of the exam.
Listening Skills
The Grade 7 program offers opportunities to listen to longer conversations and speeches, delivered at a pace and in accents closer to real-life English. Students learn to identify key information, understand the speaker’s attitude, purpose, and opinion. Frequent exposure to listening tasks modeled after the Checkpoint exam improves their responsiveness and ability to capture information effectively.
Speaking Skills
Students are encouraged to develop speaking skills through presentations, group discussions, and role-play activities. They learn to present ideas logically, provide reasons and examples, and respond politely and appropriately to others’ opinions. This skill not only supports natural communication but also enhances language organization, vocabulary range, and confidence in using English in an academic setting.
Use of English (Grammar & Vocabulary)
Grade 7 expands and strengthens students’ grammar foundation, covering the past simple, present perfect, basic conditional forms, and more complex comparisons. Vocabulary is further enriched through academic and real-world topics such as travel, environment, health, and technology. Mastery of these language components enables students to use English more accurately and flexibly across all skills.
