Course Description

The Grade 11 Science program is part of the Cambridge International AS Level—the first stage of advanced academic study before progressing to A Level. Students can choose to study one or more subjects from the three disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, depending on their career aspirations and intended university majors such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, or Data Science.

The curriculum follows the international Cambridge standards (9700/9701/9702), combining scientific reasoning, problem-solving skills, and exam-focused academic training. Delivered in an online format, the program not only provides students with in-depth subject knowledge but also offers access to virtual laboratory simulations, data analysis tasks, and small-scale research projects to develop practical scientific skills.

Biology

Cell Structure & Biological Molecules: Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells; structure and function of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and enzymes.
DNA and Protein Synthesis: DNA replication, transcription, translation, and regulation of gene expression.
Cell Membranes & Transport: The fluid mosaic model, diffusion, and active transport mechanisms.
Immunity & Disease: Pathogenic microorganisms, immune system mechanisms, vaccines, and antibody responses.
Gas Exchange & Transport Systems: Gas exchange processes, blood circulation, and the structure of the lungs and heart.
Cell Division & Genetics: Mitosis and meiosis, gene mutations, and Mendelian inheritance.

Chemistry

Atomic Structure & Periodicity: Electron configurations, periodicity across periods and groups.
Chemical Bonding & States of Matter: Types of bonding, molecular geometry, and intermolecular forces.
Energetics & Kinetics: Exothermic and endothermic reactions, reaction rates, and influencing factors.
Equilibria & Redox Reactions: Chemical equilibria, Le Chatelier’s principle, and oxidation–reduction processes.
Electrochemistry: Electrolysis, electrochemical cells, and practical applications of batteries.
Organic Chemistry (Introduction): Hydrocarbons, isomerism, and characteristic reactions of alkanes and alkenes.

Physics

Measurements & Motion: SI units, uniform linear motion, and velocity–time graphs.
Forces & Dynamics: Forces, Newton’s laws of motion, friction, and uniform circular motion.
Energy, Work & Power: Conservation of energy, work, and efficiency calculations.
Waves & Sound: Interference, refraction, longitudinal and transverse waves, and sound applications.
Electricity: Electric current, circuit components, resistance, Ohm’s law, and electrical power.
Matter & Deformation: Particle model of matter, density, stress–strain relationships, and Young’s modulus.
