1. General Introduction & Learning Outcomes
Grade 3 typically focuses on understanding a region/state (or a geographic area) and how it works as a system: how geography shapes jobs, economy, and culture. Students move from personal stories to a more structured view: resources → jobs → products/services → community life.
By the end of Grade 3, students can:
-
Describe regional features (landforms, climate, resources) and connect them to people’s lives.
-
Explain a simple chain: resources → jobs → goods/services.
-
Conduct a short mini-research: ask questions, find information, and present findings.
2. Knowledge Overview
-
Geography: regions, natural resources, environment.
-
Economics: production–distribution–consumption (intro level).
-
Civics: leadership roles, shared community rules, civic responsibilities.
-
Culture: traditions and regional identities.
3. Learning & Teaching Methods
-
Projects guided by driving questions: “What is special about our region? Why?”
-
Simple data activities: class surveys (tally marks/graphs) about needs and habits.
-
Short presentations (1–2 minutes) to practice clear speaking with reasons.
